One last salute to Salute

Dear Joe,

As of July 6th, Salute E Vita will close its doors for good at the original location.
I say that because IF I overheard correctly, the owner is currently scouting a new location to continue to stay in business.

Albeit, not in the same place sadly.

It is a beautiful place, that I will miss spending time at.

Yesterday I dragged mom with me for what would be our last dinner there; and I wanted to soak as much of it in as I could.

At first they sat us in the Bar area with a pretty view of the marina, but there was someone who was spending their birthday in the next nook from where we were and it got LOUD.

So I had asked for a quieter place to sit, and I'm pretty sure we sat in the same booth that we had sat in the last time you and I had eaten there.

Instead of having the requisite Lasagna, I opted for a Crab Ravioli that was pretty amazing.

I could have stayed there for hours, and would have liked to but we had to get home before the traffic got too bad.

I snapped a few last photos of what I could on our way out.

More than likely I will come back at some point to see what has taken its place.
To spend time near the water.
And maybe take a trip around the "Round a bout" (haha)

Please know that you were thought of, and wished that you were there with me one last time before it closed for good.

The memories I have will have to do.

Flex Watch’s

Dear Joe,

As an avid fan of Instagram, I randomly found this company that was advertising watches that benefited Military Veterans.

When I saw the airplanes, I immediately thought of you. And bought one.

and Voila!

Though its rather on the large side... It's cute.

Hope you are doing well

Roaming Gnomes

Dear Joe,

I have recently discovered and finally embraced Amazon.com, below is one of many things I have since procured whilst browsing for things one ultimately does not need.

I couldn't help myself... quite literally they will be "roaming" the planet by virtue of the boxes I tape them up with.

I really need to get out more.

Maybe one day I can give you the box of things that I have collected for you over the years; taping it up with this glorious product.

I hope you are doing well.
Thinking of you always,
"Jill"

The 20 Year Binge

Dear Joe,

To mark the 20th anniversary of Sex and the City, it was marathoned on TV this weekend and you bet your sweet ass I watched every episode!

It started on Friday night going all the way until 7PM this evening, and I pretty much shut my phone off and barricaded myself in my room only to surface when I needed to.

Sadly the episodes were pretty butchered in order to make the weekend time frame, or more than likely it would take 3-4 whole days to watch every single one in its entirety.
*would not complain about that*

It seemed kind of silly that I literally did nothing all weekend except watch a series that I already own (courtesy of You!) at any time that I want.

I guess it was a little more special that it was on cable once again, so it made it exciting.

I'm weird, I know

Anyway, Thank you again for gifting me the series so many years ago... I most definitely thought of you the whole weekend and the memory of when you gave it to me.
I remember the shrill scream I let out when you gave me that bright pink box <3

Sorry for the hearing loss!

But Thank you again.

For everything.

A little bit of you, a little bit of me

Dear Joe,

I found this image on Instagram and immediately thought of you... and me.
Quite an interesting take on "Mary"

I dig it.

Look Kids!... Big Ben! Parliament!

Dear Joe,
Sooo this morning I got an email from Bath & Body Works that showed a candle that had Big Ben and Parliament on it, appropriately called London....
Immediately I knew I had to have it so I ran out and got one.
It is important to note that once procured candle was at home, the movie "National Lampoon's European Vacation" was put on and said candle was lit.
*Side Note: There are other countries that have their own candle at Bath & Body Works...
 Avoid "Paris". It stinks

Promotions

Dear Joe,
I got a promotion at work today. Though oddly I wasn’t terribly excited about it.

I guess because it was for a job that I am already proficient at, and have done for years previously
.
And maybe a little bit because I didn’t have “my person” (you) to run home to tell it to.
I'm pretty sure that was it.

Firsts & Lasts

Dear Joe,

This past weekend had been pretty stressful at work (Read: SLAMMED), and Mom had been just exhausted with having to deal with some of the rather nasty hospital staff where Carl is at, so I booked a table at Salute for an early dinner for the both of us.

Ironically not 5 minutes after I confirmed my reservation, I got an email stating that they would be closing their doors for good on July 6th.

I was saddened to hear that the place that you took me to dinner at for the first time, would no longer be in business.

Yes, I had hope that one day we could revisit the place again and recreate that first night.
*Minus the boat trip*

I never told mom about why I wanted to specifically have dinner there, or the significance it holds for me. But what I did find out is that Salute is also the place that Carl had taken her before years ago for "Dinner by the Bay".

She did not immediately recognize the place, but on the way there I had described it to her from what I could remember (stop laughing *haha*) and she had questioned if it was the same place that Carl had taken her a few times in the past... We both hoped it was.

And it was.

She did not immediately recognize it upon first glance because I believe she said that they had gone there at night so I can understand why it wasn't familiar to her, but as we were leaving, she turned a corner and saw the table she and Carl used to sit at.

So now it holds special memories for the both of us.
For similar and different reasons. But good nonetheless

I grabbed a few photos while I was there.. AND I took her around the "Round-a-bout" but spared her the "European Vacation" experience
*She wouldn't get the reference*

I had the same meal as I always got there: the Lasagna.

We will be going back later this month and taking Carl's nurse and her husband to dinner here one last time...

Please know that I think of you fondly and wish you were there with me.

Miss you.
